Welcome to our Age-Friendly Glen Cove website!
Established in 2017 through the Glen Cove Senior Center, the Age-Friendly program strives to encourage policy and planning that enhance our City’s empathy and support of our aging population and in doing so, improves the quality of life for all generations. It is our goal to foster a community where people can continue to experience joy and fulfillment as they grow up and grow older!
The Age-Friendly Glen Cove Advisory Board currently has 38 members and is comprised of local and county government officials, social and senior service providers, city department personnel, local businesses, and senior advocates. In addition to semiannual advisory board meetings, members were also organized into six working groups that meet several times a year and are separated by age-friendly domain. The goal of these groups is to develop action items that will be incorporated into the City’s Age-Friendly Action Plan.
Timebanking is a time-based currency. Give one hour of service to another and receive one time credit. One can use the credits to receive services.
An hour of service is always one time credit regardless of the nature of the service performed.
“Equal Time, Equal Value”: An hour of one person’s time is directly equivalent to another person’s hour.
As timebank members, people help each other by sharing their time, talents and skills. For every hour you spend helping another member, you earn a time credit which can be redeemed later for services.
