Everyone wants to feel valued and engaged within the community. Social participation is essential for quality of life and longevity.
Age-Friendly Glen Cove aims to foster better social and intergenerational engagement and inclusion through the provision of accessible, affordable, and enjoyable social activities that are disseminated in a variety of ways.
Action Plan for Glen Cove:
- Listen to feedback from residents of all ages, cultures, and abilities about their needs, concerns, and suggestions to expand on and create new programs in listening groups.
- Create an “age-friendly business” directory of leisure activities, restaurants, and retail stores that offer discounts to seniors and veterans and provide necessary disability accommodations. Businesses will have an age-friendly business logo in the window to make individuals aware of affordable activities they can participate in. The directory will be available in paper at key locations throughout the city and on the age-friendly website.
- Collaborate with the senior center, library, churches, and health practices to disseminate information about the various social programs and activities available to residents.
